"Associate Professor Gary Schlappal, hired in 1987, was accused of inappropriate sexual misconduct; the allegations included that he had sex with a student in his office multiple times and also had sex with a student while a kiln overheated, all reported in a Journal Sentinel article written by Tom Vanden Brook.
He was also charged for another alleged comment about one of his pottery students, “I had her in a motel room for a month with nothing but a bare bulb swinging over us and she still doesn’t get it.”
Eventually, Schlappal was fired by the UW Board of Regents in 1993."
